Experience

  1. Senior Interaction Designer

    GDS
    November 2025 to present

I work on GOV.UK One Login, the way people sign in and prove their identity to access government services, and GOV.UK Wallet, which lets people keep government documents like the Veteran Card and, in future, their driving licence on their phone. I design for the native iOS and Android apps, where trust, security and accessibility have to work for everyone in the country. One Login is replacing every other way of signing in to GOV.UK, so the job is consistent, scalable patterns, not one-off screens.

  2. Senior UX Designer

    BBC UX&D, Backstage
    September 2024 to November 2025

I design personalised B2B experiences for BBC Monitoring's global customers. Most recently I led the My Feeds redesign from start to finish, defining the brief and roadmap, running workshops with key stakeholders, prototyping in Figma and establishing ways of working with an external development agency through to build. The redesign is now live with positive early feedback from customers. Alongside this I developed an internal tool that uses LLM and GenAI technologies to help journalists research and analyse ongoing news broadcasts more effectively.

  3. UX Designer

    BBC UX&D, Discoverability
    May 2022 to September 2024

Working in a multidisciplinary team across web, mobile and TV, I focused on how audiences find BBC content and why they come back. I led user research and prototyping for the Path to Fandom OKR, ran a two day cross team design sprint on short form content, and delivered a consistent search combobox across News and Sport that lifted click-through on market data searches by 7%. Alongside this I ran competitor analysis, audience research and ideation sessions, and mentored a Degree Apprentice.

  4. UX + Editorial Designer

    BBC News, Visual Journalism
    June 2018 to May 2022

I designed user centred products from research through testing to implementation, co-creating with journalists, researchers, project managers and engineers. I worked with newsroom teams on real-time visuals including maps, charts and infographics, delivered to demanding deadlines with accuracy first and translated into more than 40 languages for World Service teams. I also built templates and style guidelines for the wider team, facilitated daily stand-ups and weekly design reviews, and mentored junior designers.

  5. Senior Designer

    ODI
    October 2017 to June 2018

Led the design of ODI's financial-transparency portal end to end with an external agency. It was IATI-compliant, publishing £115m of project data across 30 projects in 22 countries. Alongside: mentored junior designers, created organisation-wide templates, managed freelance and agency support, and oversaw design budgets and print procurement.

  6. Designer

    ODI
    September 2015 to October 2017

Mid-weight design across print and digital. I turned research findings into infographics for reports and social media, and supported design across the ODI's website, publications and events. Increasingly the go-to for design advice across the organisation, helping non-designers get to work that served their audiences.

  7. Graphic Designer

    NatCen
    January 2013 to September 2015

Junior graphic design for the National Centre for Social Research. I started as a nine-month intern, the in-house designer for anything that needed one: letters to participants, leaflets, survey questionnaires. Kept on after the internship, I moved on to bigger work, building design systems and quality criteria for reports, presentations and social media, and teaching myself HTML and animation on the side.

  8. Junior Graphic Designer

    MADISONSOHO
    July 2011 to September 2011

A summer internship in Birmingham between my second and third years of university. Photo editing, illustration and asset creation, and a first look at how a working studio runs. This is where the design decade starts.
